Thanks to his observations, Edwin P. Hubble determined that galaxies were receding from Earth at a rate proportional to their distance from Earth.  He established that at a given moment all the matter in the universe was concentrated at a single point. We were all there, naturally. As we expand in space and time, our reality and our options apparently become more complex.
