Marta Mestre is a curator, critic and teacher since 2005. A History of Art graduate with a Master’s degree in Culture and Communication, she was curator at the Inhotim Institute, Minas Gerais (2016-2017), assistant curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (2010-2015), guest curator at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro (2016) curator at the Sines Arts Centre (2005-2008). In Portugal, she collaborates with the publishing company ‘Imago’ and the digital platform ‘Buala’. She has organized various projects, both individually and collectively, primarily in public institutions, with an emphasis on research into ‘counter-narratives’ and artists’ archives. She has been awarded the following prizes, among others: ‘Laboratório Curatorial/SPArte, São Paulo 2012’ and ‘Travel Grant Awards/CIMAM 2014’. She regularly writes essays for institutions and museums and participates in visual arts award juries.
